Enneagram Type 2 Relationship Compatibility

The Enneagram Two, the “Giver,” is a warm and affectionate partner. Twos are true romantics and they often put the wants and needs of their partner above their own. Their positive and helpful energy is infectious and, for this reason, they are extremely desirable companions in friendships and romantic relationships.

However, Twos also struggle with the fear of abandonment and feeling underappreciated by others, which can cause issues in their relationships. So, which Enneagram types are Twos the most compatible with? There isn’t one answer. Twos can be compatible with any of the types as long as effective communication and mutual love and respect are in place.

Together this couple has the potential to create a tidy oasis that permits rest and replenishment in a beautiful and tastefully designed setting. This pairing is often in the helping field and tries to hospitably honor guests with care, and their own family with healthy endeavors. When they’re healthy, there’s little question of their alliance to one another, but they also need help working out a power differential.

Enneagram Two with Enneagram Two

Type Twos with Type Twos in a relationship are a match made in heaven — full of care, compassion, love and fun. Twos love spending quality time together, and in their mutual giving, they find each can get replenished in the marriage, even if one or both, in all their caring, haven't learned to love themselves completely.

Simply being together is something that makes them feel complete as they talk about simple daily tasks with interest, as well as plan to host or to attend social events with gusto. This pairing keeps private matters of stress between them, and is seen by the world arm in arm having coffee, on the trail, with babes in arms (often several), and of course snuggled up together like love birds. They do well to have physical outlets when anger and frustration build up and clear communication is essential when they hit a passionate impasse.

Enneagram Two with Enneagram Three

Type Twos in relationships with Type Threes are a prominent pairing that makes waves in society by bringing their winning smiles and hearts to the world. This is a couple that can perform big tasks, get deeply specialized, and partner in their dreams together. The Three may surpass the Two a bit in terms of showmanship, especially after children have arrived, but they never aim to take the Two out of view.

This pairing is proud to show true love together in the world and is truly a vibrant display of it. However, when one of these feels left behind (usually it’s the

Two), it’s important they learn effective communication strategies.

Enneagram Two with Enneagram Four

Type Twos with Type Fours bring a creative expression, passionate care and tender devotion to the world. This couple adores each other and enjoys doing what is right and beautiful in the world.

This pairing finds their “glow up” by finding a safe harbor together of collective dreams, passions and ethics. When they hit despair, they need to rely on getting into their bodies, showing love to others and paying close attention to their intuitive knowing of the others' needs. This kind of maturity in the relationship can make this pair have one of the closest bonds of all the types, but their anger can also rise up and cause conflict. Clear communication is essential to keep a balance and a lack of codependency.

Enneagram Two with Enneagram Five

Type Twos with Type Fives are a beautiful pairing with a love that continues to burn with faithfulness and longevity, long after others have burned out. This is the kind of love that can learn to keep pursuing and withdrawing, and thus to perch on the careful balance and ability to be alone as well as connected in the world. This balance does indeed take time. But when it comes, both partners feel the eternal newness and romance as well as the safety of deep committed love as they alternately lead and follow in the mesmerizing dance of a healthy and safe one-to-one bond.

With the big energy of the Two and the deep well of the Five’s knowledge, they can make a great impact in their communities and in the world. They love and consider every person’s story with a curiosity and a strong sense of social justice. It’s important for the couple to have private time weekly (just the two of them) to indulge in little celebrations together, as well larger celebrations for special dates and anniversaries. If this kind of balance and intention is not happening regularly, they need communication help.

Enneagram Two with Enneagram Six

With the loyal and safe love of the Six and the romantic and affectionate love of the Two, this pairing can be one of the strongest of all the types.  They have fun doing everyday life together as they pass metaphorical love notes to each other in the form of acts of faithful service, even on the harder days.

They also pass these sweet notes to the people and communities they are loyal to, helping everyone they care about. When they are out of balance, the Two can feel hurt by the reactivity of the Six and the Six can feel jealous of the outer focus of the Two, so help with communication is necessary.

Enneagram Two with Enneagram Seven

Type Twos with Type Sevens are an energetic, fun and mesmerizing couple. They cannot be slowed down by the mere bounds of time and aging, unlike other couples. The heartfelt vivaciousness and care of the Two, paired with the infectious charm and intelligence of the Seven make this couple a dynamic duo when it comes to serving others, whether it be in the helping or entrepreneurial sense.

Their love doesn't stay on the surface but makes its way into the heart of others, as they collectively nurture each other and lead the pack for many relationship wins. If one of them becomes manipulative or self-focused, communication help is in order.

Enneagram Two with Enneagram Eight

Type Twos with Type Eights create a passionate and energetic couple, with a desire for creating fun and inserting their powerful compassion into the world. Both types love to lead others to healing and goodness and offer others tips for their way of right living.

They enjoy indulging and being spoiled by each other after a hard day. However, if they don’t both focus on serving each other, one or both may feel jaded and left behind in the mad rush to be competitively the best, as well as to deny the stress under the surface. If this happens, effective communication is necessary.

Enneagram Two with Enneagram Nine

Type Twos with Type Nines is a pairing that often seems easy and endearing, with both partners being truly considerate of giving to the other in both obvious and covert ways. In terms of how they show up in the world together, these individuals create a warm environment of love and care for both their children and for friends and family.

The Nine, who is a bit more withdrawn, helps the Two to set boundaries in the areas of rest. Meanwhile, the Two’s thoughtful inclusion allows the Nine to show up bigger and to be seen and heralded as special. When they forget to communicate to one another in all their serving of one another and the world, they do well to learn the best styles of engagement.
