About 1-2 years ago I decided to take a personality test, and it told me that I was the rare ISTP. I decided to take it again and see if I've changed and I'm still an ISTP which I'm actually quite pleased about. Anytime I read about ISTP's it's almost like someone has finally understood my ways in life; and that's something I don't get a lot as a FEMALE ISTP.. As a female ISTP I can easily say I'm not intrigued by any of the careers or hobies they discussed. I'm actually big into art and photography as well as baking. I hope to someday work as an interior designer or decorator or possibly even own my own little bakery. I do have to agree on the social aspects though. With my friends and close family I almost become my true self but when talking to meere aquantainces or people I've just met, I try to be polite but ask more questions about the other than answer about myself; not to mention I'm quite shy at first. I do march to my own drumbeat when working in groups... Anyway it's nice to know there are actually people like me out there and I'm not alone in this crazy life I live.

I'm tearing up by reading this- I actually thought i had typed this in the past and had forgotten about it. Your career choices are literally the exact same as mine- I love art, photography, baking, and interior design/decorating... The social aspects part is the same for me as well- If only I could actually meet you in real life it would be amazing to know there's someone who understands me~

LMAO!! I guess this is that "unexpected flash of original humor," I have decided that I like you, but then again maybe I just like that this is something I would say!

As a female ISTP now I can understood that my attitude when dealing with someone- which mean socializing that scare me a bit, could overcome by just go with the flow to whoever Im with (doesnt mean that I have to be talkative with small talk). By that means, being exposed with socializing eventually lifted up my insecurity when Im confronting with another human being yet Im not dare to have any eye contact especially with guys. Yeah! Becoming as an interior designer was my biggest dream to help someone with their spaces and living design, now trying to get a degree for ID major and hopefully to have my own boutique or clothing line where I could design my own style. I know that most of ISTP less interested in college life but my foremost intention to further my study was to pursue my dream and make it happen and I hope it will. To all ISTP female out there "you'r not born to follow the rules because you'r rules your life so make the best of it!" Anything will go your way if you have the will to overcome you problem.

It's funny. My whole life I grew up with my friends joking about how I'm like a guy when it comes to emotions...I always felt like a failure that I couldn't help/process and I am always so analytical. One of my friends sent me this because she was using the tests to write better characters and I was a female ISTP. The careers made me laugh but I'm a tax accountant and I seem to excel. I felt like for the first time in my life I finally understood myself (I was 27 when I took the test). I'm interested in reading more about the personality type.

I actually think you are ISFP and so are the girls who commented. I studied the theory and you all seem to use Fi. I also see enneagram 4's and that doesn't correlate with ISTP and when it does, it sounds nothing like you.

I agree that you and the girls who commemted are not ISTPs but ISFPs. Each individual can like whatever they want, but you have not demonstrated at all that you're an ISTP especially when you mentioned "I try to be nice." Not only did you say you like baking but then you say you like decorating. It's two careers and hobbies that require you to be in touch with your emotions which closely relates to color and your senses. I like interior design but do you want to know what a ISTP house looks like? Rustic or all black! ISFP have Fi which makes them come off analytical but they just don't display Fe. If that makes since.

I am an ISTP as well! I have a friend who is working towards her doctorate in Psychology. She already has achieved her Bachelor's and is in grad school now. She has studied Meyers-Briggs personality traits and the science behind them intensely. I was confused at first also because I hate cars! I am not a mechanic in any way! However, she explained that the 'tools' manifest differently in everyone. As females, the tools that we use are our hands (as mechanics) but we use them to craft, draw, create, paint, etc. We are the rare female ISTP. Embrace it! I love being an ISTP.

Also, the man who said we have the Feelings trait. Yes.. everyone has feelings. A person could be the most Thinking person and the most rational.. yet still have some feelings. It's the fact that as Thinkers, we ACT on our thoughts and rationality.. not because our heart tells us to do so. That would be irrational. Before ISTPs act, they think about it. Always have and always will.
