What Personality Types are the Members of BTS?

The most famous celebrities may often share some similar characteristics — but there is no single personality type when it comes to being a pop star, and BTS personality type results prove it!

All seven members of the K-Pop group sat down to take the Myers and Briggs test, and the results are a bit surprising. Despite their superstar status, five out of the seven tested as Introverts, meaning that they are more energized by alone time than time in the company of others.

While BTS has attained collective success over the past decade, each member also has gained their own fan base over time—which makes sense given the very different personalities within the group. Fans who are attracted to certain personality types over others may find themselves naturally gravitating toward the artists who share the traits of those types.

So what are the personality types of the members of BTS — and what do they mean? Read on to learn more about the personality types of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook.

Jin: INTP

Jin is the oldest member of BTS and the group’s resident foodie: he had a food-based web series and owns a Japanese restaurant in Seoul, South Korea. He is also an INTP personality type

Within the 16-type system, INTP is called “The Architect.” INTPs are logical, inventive and curious—they’re frequently coming up with new ideas and ways of doing things and are fascinated by the many mysteries of the universe. As an INTP, it makes sense that Jin would have interests outside of just music!

Suga: ISTP

Apart from his involvement in BTS, Suga is a solo rapper and commercial producer. He’s also known for his creative fashion sense and recently became a Valentino brand ambassador. Suga is also an ISTP personality type

ISTP is known as “The Craftsman” personality type. ISTPs are reserved, flexible and practical. They’re known for their spontaneity and ability to easily adapt to different environments and solve hands-on problems—all traits that make for a great bandmate and entertainer.

J-Hope: INFJ

A dancer-songwriter-producer triple threat, J-Hope was the first member of BTS to launch a solo career. His celebrity friends include Lizzo, who has said the artist has “really good energy." J-Hope is an INFJ personality type

INFJ is known as “The Counselor” personality type. INFJs are calm, thoughtful and generous. This empathetic type naturally pays attention to others’ feelings and tries to create harmonious environments, so it is no surprise that J-Hope is known for his positive energy.

RM: ENFP

RM is BTS’ main rapper and the group’s leader. He was the first official member of BTS after joining in 2010. It is no surprise that he is such a charismatic leader given his personality type is ENFP, “The Champion.”

ENFPs are enthusiastic, people-centered entertainers who are known for their energy and creativity. Imaginative and original, they are often good at coming up with unique ideas and inspiring others—as RM often does as the leader of the group!

Jimin: ESTP

Jimin is one of BTS’ main dancers and was the final member to join the group in 2013. With a background in dance, Jimin is best known for his smooth moves. He is also an ESTP personality type

The ESTP personality is also called “The Dynamo” because of this type’s dynamic energy. ESTPs are known to be straightforward, funny and adaptable. They are active and often skilled in physical activities such as sports or, yes—dance.

V: INFP

V is a multi-talented artist known for his singing, songwriting and acting talent. He is also objectively the most popular member of BTS if you go by his Instagram follower count—with a whopping 58+ million followers and growing. V’s personality type? INFP

INFPs are creative idealists with a strong sense of their personal values and beliefs. Also known as “The Healer” personality type, INFPs are quiet, sensitive and often extremely artistic. They enjoy finding new outlets for creative expression and strive to be original and authentic in everything they do.

Jungkook: INTP

As the youngest member of the group, BTS’ fanbase affectionately calls Jungkook "Golden Maknae,” which translates to “Golden Youngest.” The singer-dancer has recently followed in the footsteps of several of the other members, launching his solo career in 2022. Like the oldest member of BTS, Jin, Jungkook is also an INTP.

Analytical, innovative and non-conventional, INTPs spend more time in their minds coming up with new ideas or figuring out complex problems than they do engaging with the outside world. They also value precision and accuracy, which may be why Jungkook is known for appearing to be good in everything he tries!
